“Discipline equals freedom.”
I was introduced to this concept when I was lucky enough to attend a talk by Jacko Willink, a retired Navy SEAL officer, a bestselling author, and a successful entrepreneur.
The seminar I attended primarily focused on leadership and transformation. Jacko honed in on how the path of discipline results in progress. His point is that the consistent hard work day in and day out is the foundation of success.
Jacko also applied the concept to financial freedom. He stressed that “if you want financial freedom, you have to have financial discipline.”
I couldn’t agree more.
At that point, my financial discipline was horrendous. I was eating out daily because I wanted to “treat” myself. I drank excessively. I purchased the latest and hottest tech gadgets, despite having no real need for them. I joined a luxury gym even though I had a fabulous gym in the apartment building.
I wondered why I couldn’t do the things I wanted, including joining my friends on a ski trip.
If I had been disciplined, I would’ve had the freedom to do the meaningful things occasionally.
Discipline equals freedom is now a guiding principle. Let us help you get on and stay on the path of financial discipline — the first step in coming up with a budget.
